A sanctuary where ancient wisdom meets the seeker's soul

Nestled in the holy foothills of Rishikesh — where the air itself hums with an ancient, unhurried energy — India Yoga Ashram was born from a single conviction: that every human being carries within them an innate capacity for stillness, clarity, and profound renewal.

We are not merely a place to practise yoga. We are a living, breathing environment built across thousands of years of Indian spiritual tradition — where the practices taught here are not fitness routines, but pathways to the self.

Our Story

About the Ashram

A sanctuary rooted in tradition, guided by devotion, and open to all who seek.

India Yoga Ashram was not built. It was summoned — by years of practice, by the land itself, and by the deep conviction that the world needed more places of genuine stillness.

We are a dedicated sanctuary for wellness, located in the serene natural surroundings of Rishikesh — one of the world's most ancient and sacred landscapes, where the Ganges descends from the Himalayas carrying the memory of ten thousand seekers who have walked this path before you.

Our founders arrived here as students, drawn by the same question that has drawn spiritual seekers to these foothills for millennia: what lies beneath the surface of the thinking mind? What is the self that remains when the noise of daily life falls away? The answer they found was not a philosophy — it was a lived experience. And that experience became the seed of what India Yoga Ashram is today.

The ashram has been designed as a holistic space in the truest meaning of that word: a place where body, breath, mind and spirit are understood as one continuous, inseparable whole. Every retreat, every practice, every meal, every morning has been crafted with this wholeness in mind. Nothing here is ornamental. Everything has a purpose, and that purpose is your return to yourself.

We believe in accessibility as much as depth. This is why we offer luxury private accommodations for those who seek solitude and comfort, traditional shared rooms for those who find nourishment in community, daily sessions for walk-in guests and local residents, and online programs that carry the field of practice to every corner of the world. The ashram has no walls in the spiritual sense — it belongs to anyone who seeks it.

Fifteen years of practice, three thousand lives touched, and one unbroken thread of devotion. This is India Yoga Ashram — and it is here, always, whenever you are ready.

The Practice

Yoga & Wellness

Ancient practices for the contemporary seeker — taught as they were meant to be.

At India Yoga Ashram, yoga is not a fitness modality. It is a complete science of the self — a path that encompasses the body, the breath, the mind, the emotions, and the deepest layers of the human being.

Every practice offered here has roots that extend thousands of years into the living tradition of this land. Our teachers carry authentic lineages, and they teach not from manuals but from the living experience of having walked this path themselves. What you learn here will not be what you have practised before — it will be deeper, quieter, and far more lasting.

Classical Tradition

Hatha Yoga

The mother of all modern yoga styles — practised here in its classical form, not as gymnastics but as a precise science of preparing the physical body to become a stable, receptive vessel for deeper practice. Postures held with awareness, breath as the central guide, stillness as the ultimate aim.

Dynamic Practice

Ashtanga Vinyasa

The dynamic, breath-linked series as transmitted through the Mysore lineage. Physically demanding and deeply purifying, Ashtanga builds internal heat, dissolves physical and energetic blockages, and creates a quality of focused, moving meditation that is unlike any other practice.

Energy & Awakening

Kundalini Yoga

The yoga of awareness — combining dynamic movement, breathwork, mantra, mudra and meditation to awaken the dormant energy at the base of the spine and draw it upward through the chakra system. Profound, sometimes intense, and unmistakably alive.

Restoration & Release

Yin & Restorative

Long-held passive postures that work deeply into the connective tissues, the fascia, the joints, and the nervous system. Yin yoga is a practice of profound surrender — learning to be still, to be with sensation, and to release what has been held far too long.

Vibrational Healing

Sound Healing

The ancient science of Nada Yoga — using the resonant frequencies of Tibetan bowls, crystal instruments, tanpura, and mantra to rebalance the body's energetic field. Sound reaches places that words, postures and even breath cannot. This is medicine of a different order entirely.

Breath as Medicine

Pranayama & Meditation

In the classical tradition, asana prepares the body for pranayama, and pranayama prepares the mind for meditation. Our dedicated sessions in yogic breathwork and seated meditation form the spiritual core of everything we offer here — the still centre from which all other practices radiate.
